New Nurse’s Station is Also a Clinic!
Our volunteers and the school staff, under the direction of Nurse Del
Rodrigquez have organized and equipped a nurse’s office at the
ABC Divine Foundation Primary School. The children will now get immediate
medical attention right there on campus! It is almost completed.
The volunteers painted the interior walls and the school carpenter
is making the furniture for the 2 bed facility. There will be a reception
area, an office and a sick bay (click on image below for enlarged sketch).
The Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation will be
providing a medical team that will test all the children and their families
for HIV, give them treatment for as long as they live, and organize
peer support groups—all free of charge, subsidized by the Bristol-Meyers
drug company.
Our nurse will have special training to treat patients as well as to
offer blood tests and other clinical support to the surrounding village.
We will have a supervising doctor that will be on call for special emergencies.
