Ways You Can Support the African Rural Schools Foundation

 

Funds are needed to:

• Purchase the land adjoining the school. At the present time the children are using the property to play soccer, hang laundry and to sit for lunch. But the land is currently for sale to the general public, and we need to make sure that our school campus remains intact. Many new homes are going up on the hillside, making this land more desirable. Our school will benefit greatly by having this land for play, for a dining shelter and new cooking facilities..
• Donate funds to purchase items from the African Rural Schools Foundation "Wish List"

• Obtain educational materials such as books and supplies, office equipment and laptop computers for the media center. The children have no individual books, only composition books. The teacher must write every lesson out on the board for the children to copy into their composition books. It is more cost effective to send money to Uganda to purchase needed items than to try to purchase them here and then send them. The cost is exorbitant and safe transport to the desired address is not always guaranteed in Uganda, so sending funds is preferred.
• Help sponsor a child who cannot afford school fees. It costs $10 per month for boarding students and $7 per month for day students. There are AIDS orphans who have no money for fees and other students who live at the school and work to pay their fees. Sponsor one or more children at the Primary School. Click here.

Volunteers are needed in Uganda to:

• Teach computer skills to teachers and students
• Teach in the ARSF schools
• Provide manual labor for erecting and maintaining school buildings
• Help supervise construction projects
• Meet and greet parents and new families during registration at the school
• Offer training in strategic planning, goal setting and leadership
• Help with the farm animal program for income at the school
• Offer organizational support to the ARSF staff in Uganda as needed
  
  

Volunteers are needed at home to:

• Tell people about the ARSF
• Write grants for ARSF funding and support
